Chanticleer's winning weekend
On Friday, Oct. 6, the Chanticleers took on the Georgia Southern Eagles 3-1 in the HTC Center. On Sunday, Oct. 8, they took on the Georgia State Panthers 3-2. The ladies came back after their last loss the previous Sunday against Texas State. Against the Eagles, the Chanticleers won the game in four sets; 25-16, 17-25, 25-21 and 25-19. The Chanticleers had 56 kills, 69 digs, four aces and eight blocks. Leah Hardeman lead the team in kills with 17, 14 of the team's digs, as well as one block and one block assist. Dora Lulic served two of the teams four aces, seven kills, one block and one block assist. Shelby Ladewig had the two other aces and eight digs. The Eagles had 39 kills, 52 digs, one ace and nine blocks in total. Leading the Eagles was Lauren Reichard with 10 kills and three digs followed by Cathrine Murra with 10 digs, one ace and nine kills. Against the Panthers, the Chanticleers went to five sets ultimately winning. The match scores were; 25-19, 18-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-10. In the five sets, the Chanticleers had 59 kills, 84 digs, nine aces and six blocks. Leading the team with kills again was Leah Hardeman with 25. Hardeman also assisted the team with 16 digs and one block assist. Kinga Windisch also helped the team with 13 kills, 11 digs, two aces and one block assist. The Panthers had 46 kills, 77 digs, six aces and blocks. Morgan Hash lead the Panthers with nine kills, three serves and five digs. Crystal Lee followed with eight kills, two aces, 12 digs and one block. Coming off the win, the Chanticleers heading back to practice in order to prepare for their next game. The wins put the Chanticleers at 8-7 overall and 5-1 in Sun Belt conference play. The Chanticleers return to the court on Friday, Oct. 13 at Appalachian State.
