Men's Basketball downs Piedmont International on opening night
Men’s basketball defeated Piedmont International 102-50 on Friday, Nov. 10. The Chanticleers came out very strong and in the opening 20 minutes, shooting 70 percent from the field. Junior forward Zach Cuthbertson played like a beast, scoring 22 points in only 16 minutes of play. Junior center Josh Coleman and senior guard Jaylen Shaw both had 14 on the night. Shaw hit all five of his field goals and he hit one three -point field goal and all three of his free throws. Junior guard Matt Lindsey finished with 11 points and senior forward Demario Beck put up 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Chanticleers had 20 assists on the night and out rebounded PIU 53-31. Sophomore guard Artur Labinowicz had a team and game high of eight rebounds while Coleman and Beck had seven. After shooting 70 percent in the first half, The Chanticleers hit 21 of their 21 field goals and that included hitting seven of its 13 three point shots. The Chants were up 61-28 at halftime and never looked back in the second half. In the second half, the Chanticleers would score 32 points before Piedmont would score 10. They hit the road for the next four games. On Nov. 14, they travel to Beaumont, Texas play at Lamar and will return home Nov. 21 against St. Andrews.
