Women's Basketball dominates Lees-McRae in Season Opener
On Friday, Nov. 10, Coastal Carolina women’s basketball started their season off on the right note, defeating Lees-McRae 73-47. Sophomore players Dj Williams and Naheria Hamilton made their presence known early for the Chanticleers. Williams put up 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, leading all players in points, rebounds and assists, recording five assists on the night. Hamilton put up 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She also led all players with four blocks. Another notable player was the lone senior for the Chanticleers, guard Jas Adams. Adams put up 15 points and was the floor general on defense. Williams played tough from beginning to end. She helped the Chanticleers the nine-point lead they had early in the first half. The Chanticleers only trailed for less than two minutes the whole game and once they were able to stretch their lead to double-digits, it was smooth sailing from there. At the half, Williams had 17 points, and the score was 37-23. Entering the second half, the Chanticleers stretched their lead even more and crossed 50 points at the 4:18 mark. At this point in time, the Chanticleers were 58.3 percent from the field. Adams led the Chanticleers with eight points in that quarter. From then on, the Chanticleers stretched the lead to what would be a 32-point win for them. They return home on Tuesday against UNC-Greensboro at the HTC center. Tip-off is at 6 p.m
