A look ahead in local theater

In the coming month of February, we will see a few shows in the theatres of local areas. Starting with Coastal Carolina University, we will see Bullets Over Broadway, a tap heavy musical. The musical will consist of new and familiar shining faces as the ensemble has a substantial size along with lead roles.

Likewise, in the surrounding theatres of Atlantic Stage and Theatre of the Republic, there are also theatrical performances making way to their stage. Towards the end of January, Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally featuring one of Coastal's own Kat Sweeney, will be running through February at Atlantic Stage. This play brings forth a plot based around relations between a high school student and the student's math teacher.

Coming to stage at Theatre of the Republic is The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is a classic tale known from Disney's animated adaption. It is widely known from Disney, but it also was brought to the stage as a musical. Both the Disney adaption and stage musical were produced in 1996.

We will see this brought to Conway's local community theatre in February through March, featuring Coastal Carolina alumna Whitney Daniels playing the lead female role of Esmeralda. As well, returning to the stage, playing Quasimodo is Bradlee Gorerra.

Students don't want to miss these stars in action on the TOR stage! Students should grab their tickets before they're sold out and show support for the arts and CCU.
