Coastal softball goes 2-3 in tough weekend

This weekend, the Coastal Carolina Softball team hosted The Chanticleer Shutdown.
The ladies had a tough weekend coming out with two wins and three losses.
Saturday brought two difficult games against Pittsburgh and Saint Joseph's. The ladies almost made a comeback against Pitt but were unable to get the runs they needed in the end.
Head Coach Kelly Green talked about the struggle on Saturday.
“We are always learning," said Green. "Whether we are winning or losing, we are always learning."
The Saturday game against Saint Josephs was in the Chanticleers favor until a difficult fourth inning. Saint Josephs seemed to like Kaitlyn Beasley-Polko and Taylor Schmidt pitching, hitting 4 homeruns.
“Kaitlyn is a great pitcher," said Green. "Even senior pitchers go through tough innings and can’t get out of them."
The Chanticleers were able to score an additional 4 runs before the end of the game; however, it was not enough.
The ladies took a win on Sunday against Georgetown with a walk off hit by Courtney Dean, Freshman, in the eighth inning.
The Lady Chanticleers have their first Conference game against Louisiana-Lafayette on March 10 at 1:00 p.m.
