Coastal softball has a tough weekend in Texas

The Chanticleer women’s softball faced a tough weekend against Texas State as the team was swept by the Bobcats.
The ladies had a difficult first game against the Bobcats and lost on an extra-inning walkoff.
Freshman pitcher Kaitlin Beasley-Polko pitched a complete game and finished with three strikeouts.
The ladies were able to get a few more runs up on the board during the second game with a final score of 7-4.
Courtney Dean, freshman, got a home run at her first at bat in the second game and brought in two runs for the Chants.
Kassidy Smith, sophomore, followed Dean and hit another homerun during the first inning, allowing the Chanticleers to take the lead in the first inning.
Texas State would score five runs in the bottom of the third inning to make it 7-3 to the Bobcats.
Coastal would get a run back in the top of the sixth inning but it was not enough for a comeback.
In Sunday's final matchup, Texas State pitcher Riley Rupp would pitch a perfect game against the Chanticleers in a 10-0 win over Coastal. Rupp allowed no hits and the team did not commit any errors in the 10-0 route of the Chanticleers.
Coastal has had a rough couple of weeks, winning only one game in their last seven.
