Biermann named The Chanticleer's player of the month for March

Junior first baseman Zach Biermann hit four home runs and recorded nine RBIs in five games between Mar. 7 and Mar. 11. His efforts earned him the Sun Belt Player of the Week and, for that, Biermann is the Chanticleer Newspaper Player of the Month for the month of March.

Biermann batted .500 for the week, going 10 for 20 at the plate. The junior had a hit in all five games, including going 3-3 from the plate during a 19-3 blowout win over Wake Forest on Mar. 7. Biermann also had at least one RBI in four games and scored in four of the five games.

For the season, Biermann is batting a team-best .344 and while leading the team and Sun Belt in slugging percentage (.719). He ranks second on the team in hits (22), doubles (6) and home runs (6), RBI (19). In the Sun Belt statistics, Biermann ranks second in home runs, third in total bases (46) and is fifth in RBI and doubles.

Coastal Carolina will play this weekend with their second Sun Belt series here at home taking on Texas State at Springs Brooks Stadium. First pitch Friday, Mar. 23 will be set for 6 p.m. Saturday’s first pitch is at 2 p.m. and the Chanticleers will finish off the weekend with an 11:30 a.m. start.
