Coastal softball swept by Troy

The Chanticleer softball team were swept by the Troy Trojans this past weekend.
In the first game, the Chanticleers were able to get more hits than the Trojans, but the Trojans made their hits count as Troy would get the lone run in the bottom of the third in route to a 1-0 win. The first game was pitched by Ashley Guillette, and she pitched a two hitter, keeping her fearsome pitching streak.
The second game was a tough 4-1 loss for Coastal as Troy would go up 4-0 by the fourth inning. Kaitlin Beasley-Polko pitched four innings with only 5 hits, and Taylor Schmidt pitched two innings with no hits, striking out three batters.
In the final game, the Chanticleers were tied with the Trojans early in the game. However, the Trojans would score five runs over the next three innings to go up 6-1 by the end of the fourth inning. Coastal would get a few runs on the board late in the game but still fell to Troy, 6-3. Neither Guillette or Schmidt would record a strikeout. The two losses for Guillette puts her at 11-11 on the year when she is on the mound.
The series sweep puts the Chanticleers at 22-23 on the year and 5-13 in Sun Belt play.
The Chanticleers will host Georgia State this weekend, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
