Coastal Carolina prepares to host NCAA Regional

On Sunday, May 27, just hours after winning the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Louisiana, the NCAA announced that Coastal Carolina would host the Conway Regional in the 2018 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

The NCAA Conway Regional will be held from Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3. If necessary, a winner-take-all game will be played on Monday, June 4.
The Conway Regional will feature Coastal Carolina, Long Island University-Brooklyn, Connecticut and Washington.
The Chanticleers enter the 2018 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament with a 42-17. The only team in the Conway Regional that Coastal has played is Connecticut. The Chanticleers fell to the Huskies 12-10 back on March 13 at Springs Brooks Stadium.
That two-run loss was a part of a stretch of games where the Chanticleers went 1-4 and had a three-game losing streak. It was after that loss to the Huskies that the Chanticleers went on a 9-1 run that featured the team winning their first eight Sun Belt Conference games.
The Connecticut Huskies finished their season with a 35-20-1 record and fell to East Carolina in the American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game. The Huskies are currently ranked 22nd in the nation.
LIU-Brooklyn won the 2018 Northeast Conference Tournament defeating the two-seed Wagner twice in route to their first-ever conference tournament championship. The Blackbirds enter the Conway Regional with a 31-24 record, their first winning record since 2011. This is the first NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament appearance for LIU-Brooklyn since 1972.
The Washington Huskies fell to Super Regional Host Stanford in the Pac-12 Tournament this past weekend. The Huskies are back in the NCAA Tournament after missing out last season. They enter the tournament with a 30-23 record.
Connecticut and Washington will play each other in game one of the Conway Regional at noon on Friday, June 1 from Springs Brooks Stadium. Coastal Carolina will take on LIU-Brooklyn later that night at 6 p.m. The losers of the first two games will battle to stave off elimination at noon on Saturday, June 2. The winners of the first two games will take on each other at 5 p.m.
The winner of Saturday’s 5 p.m. game will play in the regional final on Sunday, June 3 at noon. The winner of Saturday’s noon game will take on the loser of Saturday’s 5 p.m. game for a chance to play in the Regional Final.
Should Coastal win their regional and Stanford win theirs, the Chanticleers will travel to California to take on the Cardinals. However, if Stanford loses their regional and Coastal wins theirs, then the Chanticleers will host the Super Regional. And if both Coastal Carolina and Stanford get knocked out of their regional, then the host of the Super Regional will be determined by the better of the two teams to come out of the Stanford and Conway Regionals.
