Coastal volleyball on six-game losing streak


The Coastal Carolina volleyball team is experiencing their worst losing streak since 2012. The Chanticleers are currently 1-7 and facing a six-game losing streak following an 0-3 performance in the Duke Invitational on Friday, Sep. 7 and Saturday, Sep. 8.

In match one of the Duke Invitational, the Coastal volleyball team lost 3-1 to East Tennessee State University.

After Coastal took the first set 25-15, ETSU came back and took the next three sets 25-17, 28-26, 25-18.

Anett Nemeth ended the match with 21 kills and four blocks, Dora Lulic with 10 kills and three blocks, Kyla Manning had five kills and two blocks, and Kaylah House ended with four kills and three blocks.

In game two of the invitational, Coastal squared off against Duke where they were swept 25-23, 25-17, 22-25.

Manning led with 12 kills. Nemeth ended with eight kills. Ani Bozdeva ended with six kills. Lulic ended with four kills. Manning, Nemeth and Lulic all ended with one block.

In game three of the Duke Invitational, Coastal lost a five set thriller to Cincinnati 25-21, 13-25, 18-25, 25-20, 11-15.

Erica Kostelac led with nine kills and three blocks. Dasha ended with six kills and seven blocks

The Chanticleers will have to wait for their next match as the Coastal Carolina Classic was canceled due to the approach of Florence. That tournament was supposed to be held starting today, Sep. 13 until Saturday, Sep. 15.

Coastal Carolina volleyball will be back in action when the team hits the road to begin conference play at Georgia State on Friday, Sep. 21.
