Things to check out 101

With Florence making a mess of our area, there really is not much to do right now in the Grand Strand. However, once we all come back to campus and we get back into our routine, be sure to check out these hot spots right in our backyard.
Horry County:
Food: River City Café or Ultimate California Pizza: Both operated by the same owner, River City Café has two locations in Horry County which serves some the best unique burgers in the area. They have crafted burgers that are so good they’ll make your taste buds holler, like a Mac and Cheese burger or a even a Cheetos burger... that’s right. They have unique burgers, but also timeless classics like bacon burgers and mushroom with swiss. Their sweet tea gets five stars as well because it is sugared the right amount, no complaints.
Ultimate California Pizza also has great food, their breadsticks and fried mushrooms are incredible. Their pizza is the ultimate Pizza on the grand strand with cheese that melts just right. They also do Carry Out! If you’re looking for some new foods to try out nearby, make sure to stop at these. **Heads Up** This Owner also owns Nacho Hippo for those interested in Mexican Cuisine.
Entertainment: Go to a concert at House of Blues. Coming up on September 13, Seether will be playing at House of Blues so make sure to buy your tickets if you’re trying to see a great show. Don’t know who Seether is? You should, they’re a classic band who sing the song Broken with Amy Lee. A good song that you didn’t know you knew. Get tickets and go see a show there whether it’s this one or another show. They do many tribute bands, but also have had headliners like Puddle of Mudd, Theory of a Deadman, Jesse McCartney, All Time Low, AWOLNATION, Jimmy Eat World, AND MORE! There are concerts happening all the time, so make sure to give them an entertainment stop to enjoy some good music and have a good time.
Now, if you want to get away from campus but not too far like to Columbia, Charlotte or Charleston, the city of Wilmington, North Carolina is a great spot. Wilmington is only an hour and a half away and is close to some neat areas such as Wrightsville Beach, Oak Island and Carolina Beach.
Granted some of these areas will still be showing signs of the damage that Hurricane Florence brought. However, once the areas are cleared up and things get back to normal, Wilmington and the surrounding areas will surely be hopping!
Travel: Take a day trip to Wilmington! If you’re a One Tree Hill fan you can Google the One Tree Hill Wilmington Map and go on a personal sightseeing adventure only an hour away on the Coastal area of North Carolina. By doing this, you can take your time seeing all the houses and locations featured in the hit series with characters played by Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty (among many other familiar faces).
If you dig the show and are looking to venture out on a sightseeing expedition, head over to Wilmington to see all these places you’ve seen on television. If you don’t watch the show, that’s okay! Wilmington is still a place that should be on your list of places to see because of all the movies and television shows that have been shot in this town like Dawson’s Creek, The Conjuring, Iron Man 3, and We’re the Millers.
As well as the awesome waves you can catch if you enjoy surfing or just want to escape Myrtle Beach for a minute. It’s a quiet town with a lot to explore! Get out and see the nearby town.
