Coastal grinds out victory against Campbell

On Friday, Nov. 9, Coastal Carolina Men’s basketball team traveled to Buies Creek, North Carolina to take on former Big South rival Campbell University in their first road game of the season.
Both teams fought hard and kept the game close for the majority of the matchup, as Coastal went into halftime with a 38-35 lead before pulling away late to win 85-75.
Campbell was led in scoring by Chris Clemons, who racked up 27 points to lead the game in scoring. For the second straight game, the Chanticleers were led by senior forward Zac Cuthberson as he tallied 24 points with seven rebounds.
In addition to Cuthberson, Coastal got contributions from DeVante Jones in the form of 15 points, as well as Ebrima Dibba and Amidou Bamba, who both racked up 13 points each.
Coastal earned contributions from nearly the entire team, as 10 players put points on the board, with 7 of those 10 placing in the assist column.
Coastal Carolina’s victory game down to efficiency. The Chanticleers bested Campbell in shooting percentage (59% to 44%), free-throw percentage (74% to 60%), three point shooting percentage (37.5% to 21.4%), and rebounding (33-28). All in all, Coastal Carolina out-performed Campbell in virtually all important team statistics.
