CCU’s Department of Theatre to perform ‘A New Brain’
‘A New Brain’ will be performed in the Edwards Theatre on April 11-13 and 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. and on April 20 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
This production has been directed by John Woodson, teaching associate in CCU’s Department of Theatre.
According to Stage Agent, this is a show about “making the most out of life in the face of tragedy.”
CCU sent out an email explaining what this show entails.
“‘A New Brain,’ a sardonic comedy with music and lyrics by William Finn and book by Finn and James Lapine, depicts a composer who suffers a brain injury and awakens in a hospital surrounded by his lover, his mother, a co-worker, a doctor and a nurse. Throughout his treatment and recovery, he struggles to complete an unfinished work and worries his life will end with his greatest songs unwritten,” the email said.
According to Stage Agent, this story is actually based off of Finn’s own battle with a terminal condition. Guide to Musical Theatre said that Finn wrote many of the songs in this show shortly after he was out of the hospital.
Tickets for general admission are $17. Be sure to bring your student ID to the box office for a discounted price of $7.
