What to expect during homecoming week

Are you ready for homecoming?
Jessica Combess, the Director of Student Activities and Leadership, has taken the lead on this year’s homecoming committee.
Coastal Carolina University’s homecoming is a week-long celebration.
“We have a lot of events sponsored by various groups. Coastal Activities Board hosts three events for the weeks and they kick us off with the pageant, Miss Teal/Bronze. That winner gets to go to the Miss South Carolina pageant. The talent show is a huge deal hear at CCU, it sells out quickly, there is no cost involved, but the tickets disappear quick. The Haunted Woods is also put on by CAB [which will be partnered with the Haunted Festival that the Office of Student Life puts on],” Combess said.
The homecoming extravaganza beings with a pageant and closes with a home football game. Combess suggests students plan ahead, now that the week’s schedule has been posted. She recommends attending the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) step show, as it has been a fun event each year.
Groups and individuals alike can win the homecoming honors. Registration for the competition will be accepted until Oct. 4 and has to include each member and/or members’ first and last name and student ID.
There will be a $300 prize and trophy; the winner and/or winners will be announced Saturday, Nov. 2nd during the 3rd and 4th quarter of the game against Troy.
