Important deadlines Spring graduates need to know

Students dedicate hours each day to their studies in order to receive a degree. From restless nights in the library, to giving presentations and going to labs, receiving a degree is the reward for one’s hard work. To ensure a smooth graduation, here are important steps graduates need to take before walking across the stage.

In order to graduate, one must apply for graduation. The graduation application, along with the fee to graduate, was due on Nov. 8, 2019. Anyone who is planning to graduate in May 2020 and did not apply, should contact the registrar’s office.

There will be a graduate fair on Mar. 4 in the Lib Jackson Student Union Rotunda from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair is beneficial for graduates who need detailed information about graduation.

In order to ensure seating, graduates must claim their tickets. For the Spring 2020 graduation, graduates are limited to six tickets. Graduates should expect to receive an email a month before graduation allowing them to claim tickets. Graduates can start claiming their tickets on April 7, 2020 at 9 a.m. Students have until May 4, 2020 at 4 p.m. to do so. The initial email does not serve as a confirmation that graduates already have tickets. Graduates must personally claim their tickets through the link in the email. If the email cannot be found, check in the spam folder.

Since many graduates have family and friends flying in to witness the ceremony, there will be a chance to claim two additional rush tickets. Rush tickets will be available for purchase on May 5, 2020 at noon until n May 7, 2020 at 4 p.m. These tickets are first come, first serve. Graduates will not be guaranteed these additional two tickets. If graduates have more people coming than they have tickets, there will be a live stream of the graduation in the Wheelwright Auditorium located on campus.

After these deadlines are met, it will be smooth sailing and an easy ending to your college career.
