‘Tis the season: Five holiday events to get in a festive mood
This winter, there will be many holiday activities taking place in the Myrtle Beach and Conway areas. Many of these events recur annually, but this year there are some new additions to the calendar.
Nov. 1, 2021 – Jan. 2, 2022: The Carolina Opry Christmas Special
This is an annual Christmas show, also known as “The Christmas Show of the South.” You can catch this show at the Carolina Opry Theater which is located at 8901 N Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach. Regular ticket prices start at $42, but with a student ID, they are $27.95.
Nov. 22 – Dec. 30: The Great Christmas Light Show
This annual light show is open daily, with the exception of Christmas Day, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It’s located at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. Prices vary depending on how many people are in the vehicle, and whether Santa’s Village is open or closed. Santa’s Village will be open Thursday – Sunday until Dec. 12. This includes a petting zoo, visits with Santa, hot chocolate and s’mores. Prices range from $15 to $60.
Nov. 26 – Dec. 31: Night of a Thousand Candles
This is a rain or shine event located at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. Shows are Thursday – Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Ticket prices for adults who are not members are $30, while member prices are $25. Tickets are nonrefundable. But this year, if you are unable to attend on the day originally chosen, it is possible to change the date through the self-service page on the Brookgreen Gardens website.
Nov. 26, 2021 – Jan. 2, 2022: Winter Wonderland at the Beach
For the first time, this festivity will be taking place at Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place at 205 9th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach. The winter wonderland will be open daily from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. offering activities such as ice skating, light shows and more.
Dec. 4 – Dec. 24: Conway Celebration of Lights
This light show will take place every Thursday – Sunday throughout December, open from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The address for this event is 200 Laurel Street. This drive-through light show is a mile long and offers a s’more station and hot chocolate every night.
